Naboo vs TeamOut for a company offsite
Naboo and TeamOut solve the same first problem, finding and booking a venue for a company offsite, from opposite ends. Naboo is a European enterprise procurement marketplace with sourcing and voice agents, payments and a project manager on every brief. TeamOut is a US retreat platform that rebuilt itself around a conversational AI agent: free to plan, paid by commission on the venue you book, strongest for overnight retreats in the Americas. Neither prices flights for your named attendees, chases your stakeholders for decisions, or gives you a living document of the plan. Comtev does those three, at £250 per event, for UK event teams.
Below is a like-for-like table, then where each one genuinely wins.
What each one actually does
| Feature | Comtev | Naboo | TeamOut |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | AI that does the legwork for an in-house event team: one living event document, agents that source and negotiate, stakeholder chasing, and a budget the team controls. | Enterprise AI event procurement platform and marketplace: brief, options, booking and payment, with a human project manager. | Retreat platform with a conversational AI agent that sources venues, collects quotes and estimates flight costs. Free to plan, commission on bookings. |
| Event types | Offsites, conferences, launches, all-hands, client dinners, awards and any corporate event with or without an overnight stay. | Seminars, offsites, team building, meetings, conferences, dinners and parties. | Overnight formats only in the AI product: retreats, offsites, sales kickoffs, conferences with stays. Day events are on the roadmap. |
| Venue supply | Ranked venue shortlist from one brief, with capacity fit, decision axes and watch-outs. You pick; Comtev does the back-and-forth. | Vetted marketplace with per-person pricing; agents search the open web and call venues. | 2,500+ vetted retreat properties on the site, 10,000+ venues in the agent's index; strongest in the US, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and parts of Europe. |
| Negotiation | Reaches caterers, AV, transport and other suppliers over WhatsApp, SMS, email and voice call, in their language, negotiates for better rates and normalises quotes to all-in cost. | Part of the managed service; Naboo says its agents negotiate, sign and pay. | Trip designers help negotiate the venue contract; the agent collects quotes. |
| Travel for attendees | Flights priced per named attendee from live fares, hotel room blocks compared and awarded. Nothing is charged until the named approver says yes. | Travel and events compliance for enterprise accounts. | Flight cost estimation; transport coordinated by the trip designer. |
| Stakeholder sign-off and approvals | Stakeholder register plus tracked asks (approval, question, content, date hold) sent over Slack and email. Comtev nudges, switches channel, re-addresses to a delegate and escalates. Bookings, cancellations and outbound messages wait for a named approver with a spending ceiling. Decide in the app, on Slack, by push or by email. | Enterprise policy compliance. No stakeholder asks. | Not offered. |
| Living event document | The Event Document: what the event is and what still needs a decision. Items from the venue, vendor and travel boards land on it. Preview, try a scenario, circulate, put into the budget. | Not offered. | Split chat and results view during planning; no shareable living document. |
| Pricing model | £250 per event, every planning tool included. Enterprise for year-round teams. No commission from venues or suppliers. | Enterprise contract, no public flat price. | Free to plan; TeamOut earns commission from the venue you book, plus occasional service fees. |
| UK fit | Built in the UK, priced in pounds, run by UK event teams. | London office, UK is the largest market outside France. | US company; UK supply is thin (Launch HN users reported US venues offered for European briefs). |
| Public reviews | New to the review sites (first reviews being collected). | No G2 reviews found for the events product. | Listed on G2 with no reviews as of the date above. |

Where Naboo wins
Governance and scale. If you are a procurement or events function at a large company that wants every offsite booked through one policy-compliant channel, with spend reporting and a human project manager, Naboo is the more complete enterprise product. Its UK presence is real: a London office and the UK as its biggest market outside France.
Where TeamOut wins
Speed to a bookable retreat venue in the Americas at no upfront cost. Its agent has a real supply advantage in the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, and its trip designers handle the venue contract and on-site coordination. If your offsite is a US retreat with 30 to 300 people staying overnight, it is a strong shortlist.
Two honest caveats from TeamOut's own launch thread on Hacker News: the AI product only supports events with at least one overnight stay, and supply outside its core markets is limited enough that European briefs were answered with US venues.
Where Comtev is the third option
Both Naboo and TeamOut end at the booking. Comtev starts there and finishes the event: it keeps a living document of what the offsite is and what still needs a decision, prices flights for the named people who are coming, compares and awards the hotel block, sends the tracked ask to the CFO and chases it until it is answered, and holds every booking behind a named approver. It takes no commission from venues, so the shortlist is only ever ranked on fit. £250 per event, in pounds, built in the UK.
Questions buyers ask
Naboo or TeamOut: which is better for a UK company offsite?
Naboo, if you want an enterprise procurement marketplace with a project manager and UK supply. TeamOut, if the offsite is an overnight retreat in the Americas and you want free planning paid by venue commission. Neither prices attendee flights, chases stakeholders or keeps a living event document; for a UK in-house team that wants those, Comtev at £250 per event.
Does TeamOut work for day events or conferences without a hotel stay?
Not in its AI product at the date above: TeamOut's CTO said on the launch thread that it supports events where people stay at least one night, with day events to follow. Comtev covers day and overnight events.
Is Comtev free like TeamOut?
No. Comtev is £250 per event with every planning tool included and no commission. TeamOut is free to plan because the venue pays it commission when you book.
Does Comtev replace our event team?
No. Comtev works for the team. It does the legwork (sourcing, negotiating, pricing travel, chasing stakeholders for decisions) and the team keeps every call. Nothing is booked or spent until a named person approves it.
